Satin stain is applied to a finely sanded raw wood surface that provides a smooth, clean start to the finishing process. The Savannah, Normandy and Deco Collections use a Golden Honey stain. The Brook Hollow and Olive Grove Collections use a rich "Tobacco" stain. The Empire Collection has a rich Cherry finish. The Olympus collection has a dark Hazelnut finish, while the Capistrano has a rich Amber finish.
Application of an oil-based lacquer sealer seals in moisture and gives added protection to the wood. This reduces the occurrence of splitting and will also prevent further moisture from being absorbed into the wood, which could cause swelling. The oil-based sealer is transparent and has a smooth, satin feel. To learn more about oil based stains and lacquers verses water based stains and lacquers, be sure to check out Ask the Experts.
Sanding smoothes the rough edges and prevents grain raising. We sand between each step, which gives our furniture a Maintenance Free Finish.
A lacquer finish provides a durable, smooth, clean top surface. This topcoat also adds protection to the natural wood characteristics.
The application of furniture polish is the final step to the finishing process. Once you get your new Accent Furniture home, you can feel confident using any commercially sold furniture polish to keep your new furniture just as beautiful as the day you purchased it.
